About our Online Learning Program

St-Laurent Academy is officially offering an Online Classroom learning platform for all students from Kindergarten – Grade 8 (Elementary) and Grade 9 – Grade 12 (High School) accredited courses. The focus of our Online School platform is to shift student learning from the physical classroom environment to an online curriculum. Students who choose to enrol in our Virtual Classrooms will learn to ease their way into the reality of learning online, while being taught how to implement a variety of learning strategies to be independent and utilize various tools and resources in order to continue academic success virtually and beyond the screen.

At St-Laurent Academy, whether in the physical classroom or now virtually, our goal is to meet the needs of each individual student’s academic learning profile. Our online program is structured similarly to our in house program in that our experienced teachers will provide detailed and differentiated learning activities, interactive lessons through scheduled meetings and recorded videos, step by step, goal orientated instructions and live video conferences in order to ensure the success of each student.

Although students will be learning through a virtual interface, we recognize that every student learns in a variety of ways and as an educational institution promise to understand each student’s unique learning requirements to ensure student achievement and success. St-Laurent Academy’s virtual classroom offers an enriched online learning environment with a strong academic focus that adjusts to individual needs. As learning will take place remotely, we continue to pride ourselves on the individualized caring for each student, as this remains central to our core values.

High School Program Offering:

St-Laurent Academy’s virtual classroom offers a selection of high school courses in which students can earn credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diplomas. Our online program builds on all the attributes that have led to the success of so many students who have enrolled at and graduated from our facility in Ottawa, ON. We provide a focused and structured environment for students to receive instruction and apply their skills. Unlike many online schools, we have chosen to run a synchronous learning environment that has students following a course that is delivered on a daily basis. Each course has integrated components where students interact with their teachers over video conferences every day. The delivery of the course is done through our platform on Google Classroom, which incorporates learning activities completed both online and offline. Each course runs for the duration of a standard Ontario school semester (September through January, and February through June), and throughout those sessions students will engage in at minimum 110 hours of planned learning activities.

Please follow the link below to see our course offerings for the 2021-2022 academic year. This document will be updated regularly as we are constantly adding courses to our offerings.

Our goal is to meet the needs of each individual student’s academic learning profile.  There are usually three steps to this admissions process:

  • Step 1 – Student Academic Records: In order to begin the Online School Admissions Process, we would require copies of the student’s most recent report cards or transcript (High School), any educational or behavioural assessments or Individual Education Plans.
